The Balance Inn is first on our list of top 5 dog friendly restaurants in Herefordshire and a newcomer to the category, having been recently refurbished by the new owners to showcase the charm of a British country pub as an alternative to national chains. At the time of writing, dinner service is already up and running, with lunch service to follow soon. Being dog owners themselves, the lovely couple who run the inn have made sure the space is dog friendly throughout. With a garden area to bask in the sun on hot summer days and plenty of indoor seating to warm up on chilly winter days, this is a great dining option whatever the season. Open 7 days a week, but opening times vary, so be sure to check timings before heading out.

2) The Cider Barn, Pembridge

The Cider Barn is tucked away on the back roads of Pembridge, but it is certainly worth seeking out as the dining experience here is a real party for your taste buds. This countryside gem was a must for our list of top 5 dog friendly restaurants in Herefordshire. Staff welcome dogs, but do ask that you let them know when booking that you are bringing a dog and for your dog to sit quietly under the table for the duration of your meal. Open 6 days a week (closed on Tuesdays), but opening times vary so check timings before heading out - and it is worth booking in advance, as they are very popular!

3) The Lion, Leintwardine

Set next to the river Teme with spacious outdoor dining and dogs welcome in the top bar area inside, its's a lovely spot to dine whatever the weather. Open Monday to Saturday from 12pm – 2.30pm & 5.30pm – 8.30pm and on Sundays from 12pm – 3pm.

The Riverside Inn sets the bar high for dining experience, so if you are looking for something more decadent, this is the one to pick from our list of top 5 dog friendly restaurants in Herefordshire. Worded so beautifully, we couldn't resist including an extract from their website; "Sustainability and ethical sourcing are fundamental values at our restaurant. We increasingly grow and forage our own produce and strive to minimise food miles in our sourcing practices. Our kitchen garden, heritage orchard, smallholding, and the abundant wild herbs of the Lugg Valley supplement ingredients sourced from Herefordshire, Shropshire, and the Welsh border. The bar and restaurant have been lovingly preserved in a traditional style, featuring log fires, candlelit ambiance, hops, oak beams, and charming brick and stone accents. Enjoy ample riverside seating and a terrace garden for al fresco dining when weather permits, and don’t miss the opportunity to explore our inviting kitchen garden!" Opening times vary, so check before heading out.
