Having grown up with dogs in The Netherlands, Rick knew from a very young age he was going to work with them one day. He was fascinated by the behaviour of dogs and (as there were no Animal Behaviour qualifications at the time) he decided to complete a Masters Clinical Psychology (MSc) Degree.
Rick has notable experience working in the Rehabilitation Department at Battersea Cats and Dogs Home in London, as a Lecturer in Higher Education teaching canine behaviour and writing Degree course material and managing the dog department at one of the largest rescue centres in The Netherlands.
After Rick had experienced and encountered many behavioural problems in dogs through his work, he moved back to the UK, deciding he wanted to help dogs and their owners to stop dogs ending up in rescue centres and so began All Positive Dog Services.
Rick has become an accredited trainer and Faculty Advisor for for the Victoria Stilwell Academy, is a full member of the British Psychological Society (member 247659), Pet Professionals Guild (number 45960150), International Association Animal Behavior Consultants (IAABC) and the Dog Welfare Alliance and continues to attend courses and conferences each year with some of the world's top trainers.
Sam and Rick met at Battersea Dog and Cats Home when Sam was working with the cat behaviour department and involved in rehoming and assessing both cats and dogs. With a HND in Animal Science & Behaviour, Sam has worked as a Lecturer in Animal Behaviour and as a Manager of a Cat Department at one of the largest European rescue centres in The Netherlands, focusing on behavioural assessment, procedures and rehoming. Sam is currently a behaviour and training retail advisor at Leominster Pet Centre and is often behind the scenes organising Rick and the admin!
Moss is our 1 year old Collie who is often seen with Rick attending classes and being a model in training videos! As an RSPCA rescue he needed help and support to get used to the human world. He LOVES other dogs, and practising herding his pretend sheep!
